Following the creation of posters by pupils at St Christopher’s School in Letchworth Garden City supporting the ‘Send My Friend to School’ International Development campaign and calling for safer schools, Sir Oliver Heald MP along with Bill Bowkett, researcher from Ashwell, presented the posters to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street on the morning of 5th July 2018. The particular concern of the campaign this year is ensuring the safety of schools.
Following the presentation Sir Oliver said: “Over the past 5 years Britain has paid for the education of over 11 million children in developing countries and the ‘Send My Friend to School’ campaign has provided encouragement for this. I am delighted that St Christopher’s School in Letchworth Garden City has prepared this wonderful artwork to support the campaign and to plead for schools in developing countries to be safe places. I have taken the artwork to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street and I know she supports the education of all children.”
