North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald has welcomed the launch of the DWP ‘Job Help’ webpage for carers.  There are many unpaid carers whose role is vital for the physical and mental well-being of the elderly and the disabled, and assist in reducing some demand in the social care sector.  Many carers choose to, and successfully, balance their caring with a job, which can positively impact their financial security, health and well-being.  Many feel that they have no other choice than to leave their existing employment to take up caring responsibilities.

The DWP has developed a website which collates information and advice from a wide range of sources.  The site is called ‘Working and Supporting Someone’s Health or Care’ and is hosted on the DWP’s ‘Job Help’ campaign site https://jobhelp.campaign.gov.uk/ways-of-working-that-fit-around-you/working-and-caring-location-menu/

Commenting, Sir Oliver said: “Unpaid carers make a vital contribution in our communities and I hope that the employment and care-related information on the website will help carers remain in, or access, employment if they want and are able to do so.”
