Thank you for your enquiry regarding Hertfordshire County Council’s successful Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) application; the fund presents a significant opportunity to expand the number of publicly available Electric Vehicle charge points across Hertfordshire.
The LEVI fund is aimed primarily at providing low powered residential charging in areas that do not have access to off street parking and we are currently collaborating with District/Borough authorities within the County to identify suitable sites/areas that align with these objectives.
This process of working with local Districts and Boroughs is critical to ensure that there is an equitable distribution of charge points across the County and that charge points are situated in locations which achieve the maximum impact for residents.
The specific number of charge points within each local authority will be determined through this ongoing work with Districts and Boroughs and the site identification process.
Regarding timelines: we are in the process of developing a draft Electric Vehicles infrastructure contract which we are required to submit to the Energy Saving Trust for review and approval as part of the LEVI process. Finalising this work relies heavily on the collaboration and active participation of Districts and Boroughs whose local knowledge and expertise is critical to achieving our collective goals. We are aiming to go out to tender in summer 2024. This will be followed by an evaluation and award process, which includes submitting our tender application to the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles (OZEV) to review. The deadline for submitting this application is currently September 2024 (though there is no reason why we cannot submit before). Once OZEV approves our application they will release the final 10% of LEVI funding and we are able to sign and award the contracts.
